Waking the Dead once again attracted more viewers last night for the Sue Johnston in Waking the Dead - BBCfourth episodes of its new season. Meanwhile ITV crime series Blue Murder lost half a million viewers from last week’s opening instalment. On Sunday evening the BBC One cold-case drama pulled in nearly half a million viewers more than the previous Sunday and once again managed to beat ITV’s latest Marple film. Last night the fourth episode of Waking the Dead continued its ratings rise with half a million more viewers than last Monday tuning in. The fourth episode of the drama which stars Trevor Eve and Sue Johnston was seen by an impressive 6.7 million viewers – above the slot average.

It wasn’t good news for ITV last night though as its own murder series, Blue Murder, lost viewers. The second episode of the new season of the Caroline Quentin series was seen by 4.5 million viewers. Last week’s opening instalment was seen by 5 million viewers. The drop of half a million viewers isn’t good news for the ITV drama.
