FlashForward launches well for Five

The start of new American drama FlashForward, hailed as the new Lost by some critics, proved to be a hit for Five last night as over 3 million viewers tuned in. Meanwhile Waking the Dead ended its current run with well over 6 million viewers meaning it once again beat ITV’s Blue Murder.

 

FlashForward got off to a strong start last night on Five as the new American series, hailed as the new Lost, was seen by 3.2 million viewers. The drama started with 3.5 million viewers before peaking at 3.6 million viewers. Overall the episode averaged 3.2 million viewers – a truly impressive figure for Five and more than double the 9pm slot average for the channel.

At the same time on BBC One Waking the Dead concluded its 8th series with 6.4 million viewers. The figure is the same as the number who tuned in for last Monday evening’s episode. Meanwhile ITV’ Blue Murder lost 600,000 viewers on last week’s episode as 4.5 million viewers tuned in. Last Monday the Caroline Quentin fronted dra managed to improve its ratings with 5.1 million viewers tuning in but once again the drama series dropped well below the 5 million mark.
