Criminal Role For Briggs

Soap legend Johnny Briggs is to star in Doctors next month. The actor who has appeared in soaps such as Echo Beach, Crossroads and Coronation Street makes his appearance on Monday November 9.

 

The episode, entitled Robbed, sees Briggs as John Cotham a 67-year-old criminal convicted for armed robbery. He’s somewhat “prison royalty” in the Midlands.

 

The story sees Coltham assisting the police with a cold case, however his health is poor, and this is where the ‘Doctors’ make their entrance.

 

In Crossroads Briggs played businessman Clifford Layton from 1973 to 1975, switching to Coronation Street in 1976 – where he played businessman Mike Baldwin for 30 years. He also has a long and varied television and film career stretching from comedy Man About The House to drama The Saint.
