American Shameless given pilot
An American remake of the hit Channel Four drama Shameless has been given a pilot order by Showtime.
Showtime has ordered a pilot for its planned remake of Shameless, the hit Channel Four drama. An American remake of the drama has been mooted for some years with HBO originally interested in developing it however; Showtime took over the project and has now given the green light for a pilot episode.
The pilot will be made by Warner Brothers Television and John Wells Productions and in the title role will be William H. Macy. The American version will relocate the action to Chicago and will start shooting in December with Paul Abbott, creator of the British series, working closely with the production team.
