Psychoville to return to BBC Two
The BBC has reportedly commissioned a second series of its dark comedy thriller series Psychoville created by League of Gentlemen actors Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton.
According to Broadcast the BBC has commissioned a second series of Psychoville; the dark comedy series which aired on BBC Two. According to the trade paper the corporation has commissioned a one-off special to air next year and a new series comprising six episodes to follow in 2011. The series was created by League of Gentlemen actors Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. The end of the first series on BBC Two ended with the introduction of two new characters and the fate of several others in the balance – a climatic cliffhanger designed to persuade the BBC to order more episodes.
The first series aired during the summer with Pemberton and Shearsmith acting alongside Dame Eileen Atkins, Christopher Biggins and Dawn French amongst others. Ratings wise it averaged 1.4 million viewers which was down slightly on the 10pm slot average but never-the-less was well received.
