George Costigan to join Emmerdale
Actor George Costigan, known for his roles in Shirley Valentine, Calendar Girls and Rita, Sue and Bob Too, is to join the cast of ITV soap Emmerdale.
George Costigan is to join the cast of Yorkshire based soap Emmerdale in the New Year. The actor will play Charlie Haynes, an old friend of Rodney, who quickly catches the eye of Woolpack Landlady Diane Sugden. The actor starts filming with the soap in January and will appear on-screen shortly after.

Costigan is probably best known for his role in the 1987 film Rita, Sue and Bob Too where he played businessman Bob. Other roles include the 1989 film Shirley Valentine, London’s Burning, City Central, Doctor Who, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Holby City and Calendar Girls.
