The BBC has revealed details of the most requested programmes on its IPlayer service as it celebrates its second birthday with record numbers.

The service now has over five million unique users a week and the most requested programme of all is Top Gear. Figures reveal that well over one million viewers requested two episodes of the popular BBC Two series – making it the most popular programme of all on the I Player.

The I Player was first launched two years ago on Christmas Day 2007 and has since expanded to be available on 20 different platforms and per month currently has over 80 million requests for television and radio programmes. Below is the list of the top twenty most requested programmes of 2009.
