Doctors to air another five-part story
BBC One’s daytime drama series Doctors is to air another five-part story following the success of last year’s Aftershock which examined the effects a stabbing had on a local community. The new five-part story, from Aftershock’s writer Dawn Harrison, focuses on a hostage situation and examines the events that led up to it.
BBC One’s daytime drama series Doctors is to air another five-part story following the success of last year’s Aftershock which examined the effects a stabbing had on a local community. The new five-part story airs in January and is entitled Masters of the Universe. It’s a tense storyline with a hostage situation and a shooting and will feature flashbacks examining how the situation came about.
The writer of the new five-part story is Dawn Harrison who wrote Aftershock, which aired last February, and also the episode A Kind of Hush which won Best Episode at the British Soap Awards in 2009. Amongst the guest cast for Masters Of the Universe is Shameless actress Rebecca Ryan, Bad Girls/Crossroads actress Rebecca Hazlewood and actor Tom Kane.

A tense week long drama story resulting in a hostage and shooting situation at Letherbridge University is to be screened on Doctors this January. BBC ONE Daytime’s award-winning drama tells the five part story Master Of The Universe, which features Lewis Cutler, a fellow student and friend of regular Doctors character Jack Hollins. Lewis wants to ‘punish the rubbish that clogs up the world’, and lures several people to an empty classroom at Letherbridge University, where armed with a gun he holds them hostage. Monday’s episode begins as the hostage situation escalates and then flashes back to tell how the story began, touching on Lewis’s difficult relationship with his father Gerry, and how this impacts on everyone he comes into contact with including his half brother Ned, his friends and tutor at University, plus the Hollins family as a whole. Throughout the week’s episodes, we learn more daily about the hostage situation and who is being held.
Master of the Universe starts on Monday 25 January 2010 and features Alexander Vlahos as Lewis Cutler. Other guest stars that week include Steffan Rhodri as Gerry Cutler, Tom Kane as Ned Cutler, Rebecca Ryan as Ellie McCall and Rebecca Hazlewood as Sia Clemens. They join the regular cast members; Jack Hollins played by Nicolas Woodman, Karen Hollins played by Jan Pearson, Rob Hollins played by Chris Walker and Imogen Hollins by Charlie Clemmow. All five episodes have been written by Dawn Harrison, who wrote the five Doctors episodes Aftershock which devoted an entire week to the stabbing of a man and its affects on the community, which was shown in February this year. Dawn also write A Kind of Hush which won Best Episode at this years Soap Awards. The producer of Master of the Universe is Ella Kelly, and the Director is Ian Barber.
