Inspector George Gently to return

The BBC detective series Inspector George Gently which stars Martin Shaw and is set in the 1960s will return for further episodes after the corporation secures funding from the North East Content Fund.

Inspector George Gently is to return for another season on BBC One after the corporation secured funding from the North East Content Fund. The 1960s based detective drama which stars Martin Shaw has run for two seasons so far on BBC One and has rated reasonably well for the corporation. The securing of funding from the North East Content Fund also means the drama will be shot in the North East. The drama is set in the North East – although the books were set in Norfolk – but the previous two seasons were not filmed in the area.

Actor Martin Shaw recently guest starred in a Poirot film on ITV1 and you can read an interview with him regarding his appearance in the Agatha Christie’s sleuth series by clicking here >>
