We’re living in a material world…

New fashion based drama Material Girl, which stars Lenora Crichlow and Dervla Kirwan got off to a poor start last night on BBC One. Elsewhere The Bill once again managed to break the 4 million mark for the second week running.

New fashion based drama Material Girl, which stars Lenora Crichlow and Dervla Kirwan got off to a poor start last night on BBC One. The romantic comedy loosely based on Imogen Edwards-Jones’ book Fashion Babylon failed to pull in big numbers. The opening instalment was seen by 3 million viewers in the 8pm slot. It faced tough competition though on ITV from Emmerdale and later Coronation Street.

Later at 9pm the new season of Silent Witness on BBC One had another strong rating with 6.5 million viewers tuning in for the forensic crime series.

For the second week running ITV’s police drama The Bill managed to break the 4 million mark with 4.1 million viewers. The episode guest-starred Tommy Knight who’s probably better known for his role of Luke Smith in The Sarah Jane Adventures.

This week’s figure is only slightly down on the 4.2 million who tuned in last week. Celebrity Big Brother interested 3.1 million on Channel Four at 10pm.
