ABC cancels Ugly Betty

ABCABC has cancelled its struggling comedy drama series Ugly Betty due to low ratings and has also cut back its episode order for the series – dropping two episodes.

abcEntertainment Weekly is reporting that ABC has decided not to renew Ugly Betty for a fifth year and has cancelled the drama due to declining ratings. The broadcaster has also decided to drop two episodes from its previous order taking the total number of episodes for its current fourth season down to 20. The news is somewhat expected as the series has struggled with ratings for some time although critics were beginning to warm to the drama once again.

Producers on ABC have however, been given enough time to wrap up all the storylines on the series and create a satisfying conclusion to the once popular drama. In the UK Ugly Betty airs on Channel Four.
