Holby City actress Phoebe Thomas, who plays Nurse Maria Kendall, has revealed she’s leaving the BBC One medical-drama in May. The actress revealed her exit from the drama in the ‘Take It Easy’ magazine stating she had enjoyed her time on the programme but had decided to move onto new projects. Thomas joined the cast of Holby City in November 2006 and over her four years in the programme has been involved in a number of high-profile storylines from her doomed romance with Sam [Tom Chambers] through to the hit and run accident that put her in hospital last year.
‘I’ve loved every minute, it’s a fantastic show to be on. The cast are wonderful and you get to work with some fantastic directors. The executive producer has really taken the show in a great direction, but I think you do have to move on eventually.’ – Phoebe Thomas quoted in Take It Easy
Prior to joining the BBC One medical drama Thomas had appeared as a regular character in the first season of Channel Four drama Teachers and the ill-fated LWT soap Night and Day. Following the cancellation of Night and Day by ITV she appeared in the Thames productions Family Affairs and The Bill.
