Sheree Murphy joins the cast of Hollyoaks

Sheree MurphyAward winning actress Sheree Murphy has joined the cast of Channel 4’s teen-drama Hollyoaks as Kate. Murphy will be best remembered for her long running role on ITV’s primetime saga Emmerdale where she played Tricia Dingle.

Murphy, who has already started filming scenes for her on screen arrival in April, will play the role a mysterious brunette that turns up in Relish.

Ravi takes in instant liking to the beauty and can’t believe his luck when she agrees to go on a date. But unbeknownst to him, Kate is not who she claims to be and her motives for coming to Hollyoaks Village are far from landing a date with a would-be local entrepreneur…

Kate, real name Eva, is actually looking for the daughter that she abandoned as a baby and her arrival brings a surprise for Ravi’s younger sister Anita when she discovers that her brother’s new love interest is actually her biological mother!

Eva’s arrival marks the beginning of a journey of discovering identity for the mother and daughter. But after losing the family she has known and loved all her life, how will the troubled teen cope with the arrival of the mother that abandoned her?

On joining the cast of Hollyoaks Sheree comments, “Being a fan of the show, I’m really excited to be a part of Hollyoaks and working with the young cast, especially Saira (Anita). Her character has been through some really tough times lately so it will be interesting to see how she responds to the arrival of my character Eva, her biological mother.”

Sheree is best known for her role in Emmerdale as barmaid Tricia Dingle, for which she won the 2004 British Soap Award for Best Exit. In her time on the ITV soap she married goofy chef Marlon, helped burn down the village pub when she left fireworks under the bar, had a mud-fight with Mandy Dingle before being killed when during a storm part of the Woolpack pub fell on her. She later made a cameo return as a ghost.
