Married, Single Other drops in ratings
The second part of ITV’s new romantic comedy series Married, Single, Other dropped over 2 million viewers last night while Coronation Street edged ahead of EastEnders and was the most watched programme of Monday. The return of Five Days to BBC One for a second five-part story proved a hit with audiences as over 7 million viewers tuned in.
In a worrying sign new ITV romantic comedy Married, Single, Other tumbled down in the ratings last night for its second episode. The drama started off well last week with a strong 6.2 million viewers but its audience shrank to 3.9 million last night – losing over 2 million viewers. However, the drama did face tough competition this week in the form of Five Days on BBC One. The critically acclaimed drama returned to BBC One last night for a second five-part run which will air across the week. Featuring a brand new cast, with Anne Reid and Suranne Jones amongst it, the BBC drama started off with a hugely impressive 7.4 million viewers!
Elsewhere last night and also at 9pm Channel Four’s Secret Millionaire had 2.4 million viewers. Earlier in the evening University Challenge had 3.2 million viewers. Soap wise and according to overnight figures Coronation Street edged ahead of rivals EastEnders and was the most watched programme of Monday evening. The 7.30 episode of the ITV soap had 10.5 million with the 8.30 episode also clocking up 10.5 million viewers. Not far behind was EastEnders with 10.1 million while the BBC Three repeat had a further 640,000 viewers. Emmerdale at 7pm enjoyed 7.7 million viewers while daytime soap Doctors had 1.7 million viewers for BBC One at 1.45.
