According to The Hollywood Reporter actor Colm Feore is in talks with Showtime to appear in the new forthcoming drama series The Borgias, based on the notorious Italian renaissance family. Showtime has ordered a 13 episode season order for new drama The Borgias in the hope it’ll be as successful as The Tudors which will conclude later this year when it reaches the end of Henry VIII’s reign. The broadcaster began the search for a successor to The Tudors last year and decided upon The Borgias. It won’t be the first time the family has been dramatised for the small screen with an infamous BBC drama in the 1980s also revolving around the Italian family but the BBC version was panned by critics and audience alike.

British actor Jeremy Irons is already onboard the project to play Borgia patriach Rodrigo and the Hollywood Reporter claims that Feore is in talks for the role of Cardinal Giuliano Della Royere, an enemy of the Borgia family. Foere has appeared in a wide variety of dramas such as 24, The Listener, Battlestar Galactica, The Eleventh Hour and Boston Public with film roles such as Pearl Harbour and The Chronicles of Riddick to his name.
