Gabrielle Glaister to appear in Doctors

The actress has recorded scenes for an episode to air next month.

Former Brookside and Coronation Street actress Gabrielle Glaister is to make another soap debut in BBC One’s daytime serial, Doctors. The actress will play a character called Elaine in the episode entitled ‘Mystery Tour’ which will air in April.

Glaister’s character is sent on a ‘mystery tour’ along with her husband Colin – played by Christopher Villiers – by her daughter in the Birmingham based medical series, the journey will no doubt end up at The Mill medical centre.

Doctors celebrates its 10th anniversary on Friday 26th March. The show in 2006 made history in British Soapland with the first gay wedding, between characters Greg and Rico. Glaister was the long-suffering wife Patricia to Max Farnham in Brookside for five years from 1990 onwards before in 1999 joining the cast of Coronation Street as the sister of former Rovers Return landlady Natalie Barnes – played by Loose Women regular Denise Welch.

Gabrielle has also appeared in a number of episodes of BBC comedy, Blackadder.
