Simon Cowell hasn’t signed up for X Factor – Yet

X FactorSimon Cowell has yet to sign his new contract for hit ITV series The X Factor.

X FactorAccording to tabloid newspaper The Sun Simon Cowell has yet to sign his new contract for The X Factor. The paper reports that Cowell was expected to sign the new contract in January but has yet to do so. His contract is reportedly worth £12million – the contract is for two years and so it works out as £6million per year. However, according to the paper Cowell is hoping to secure an extra £3million in the budget for The X Factor this year from ITV.

The paper claims Cowell wants the extra money in the shows budget to make the show even bigger than previous years – perhaps by securing more high-profile guest appearances – and to attract audiences of 20 million viewers. Last year’s competition, which was won by Joe McElderry, was a ratings winner for the channel with several editions peaking at over 15 million viewers. The edition of the show where Simon Cowell opted not to get rid of Jedward duo Edward and John Grimes was a particularly highly rated edition of The X Factor.

The X Factor is due to begin filming in three months time while Cowell’s other talent competition, Britain’s Got Talent, is due to begin in several weeks time.
