Chris Evans to host The One Show on Fridays
Radio Two presenter Chris Evans is to join Christine Bleakley on The One Show sofa on Friday evenings for an entertainment focused edition of the magazine show.
Chris Evans is to replace Adrian Chiles as presenter on BBC One’s popular magazine series, The One Show. But fans of Adrian Chiles needn’t panic because he isn’t departing the series altogether – it’ll just be for one day a week. Evans, who took over from Terry Wogan’s show on BBC Radio Two recently, will present the Friday edition of The One Show which will become more entertainment focused – according to Media Guardian. Last year the BBC experiment with hour-long episodes of the magazine series on Wednesday evenings but under new plans the hour-long edition will be rolled out to Friday evenings with Chirs Evans and Christine Bleakley starting the weekend with a “bang”.
The One Show launched in 2006 on BBC One in a four-week trial to see whether the format of the show would be popular with audiences. Adrian Chiles and Nadia Sawalha presented the intitial trial which led to the BBC commissioning The One Show as an all year round production and it returned with Adrian Chiles in 2007 although Nadia Sawalha had left and was replaced by Myleen Klass and then Christine Bleakley. The programme regularly tops 5 million viewers and on occasion has come close to topping ratings for Emmerdale – particular last year when the rural soap was suffering from poor ratings.
