A BBC Four drama based around the case of John Darwin who faked his own death to claim insurance money was seen by nearly 1 million viewers last night.
BBC Four drama Canoe Man was seen by nearly 1 million viewers last night. Bernard Hill and Saskia Reeves played the Darwin couple who plotted to fake the death of John Darwin to claim insurance money but there scam was exposed after five years.
According to overnight figures the drama was seen by nearly 840,000 viewers, three times more than the slot average for BBC Four. Elsewhere on the multi-channel charts the latest episode of teen-drama Gossip Girl on ITV2 had 251,000 viewers – recovering from last week’s dip in figures.
ITV’s coverage of the football match between Arsenal and Barcelona, which ended with a 2-2 draw, was seen by 6 million viewers with a peak of 8 million viewers. Caroline Quentin sitcom Life of Riley had 4.8 million for BBC One while later in the evening a repeat of New Tricks had 3.7 million viewers.
Desperate Housewives on Channel Four had 1.6 million viewers while Relocation Relocation had 2.5 million for the channel earlier in the evening.
