Phil Daniels has hit out at EastEnders producers, claiming that they are clueless about what viewers want to watch.
Daniels, who played Kevin Wicks in the soap between 2006-2008, is not impressed by new boss Bryan Kirkwood’s plans to cut six characters from the show.
Charlie Slater (Derek Martin), Minty Peterson (Cliff Parisi) and Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu) are among those who will – at Kirkwood’s behest – depart the series in the coming months, and Daniels isn’t happy.
“It’ll be sad. Minty’s good, Charlie’s good. I love Libby,” he told The Sun. “They are good characters. I don’t see why they have to go. That’s that programme for you. Hasn’t got a clue, has it? Viewers don’t want it to be Hollyoaks.”
Daniels went on to opine that there aren’t enough laughs in the long-running BBC saga.
