Lukewarm return for Waterloo Road

However, it faced tough competition on ITV1 with the coverage of the UEFA Champion’s League match between Manchester United and Bayern Munich which had nearly 7 million viewers.

 

 

The return of soapy drama Waterloo Road last night to BBC One for the remainder of its current season received a lukewarm reception from viewers with just over 4 million viewers watching. The drama returned for its extended break with 4.4 million viewers for the first new episode of 2010. However, the drama did face tough competition on ITV1 in the form of the UEFA Champion’s League match between Manchester United and Bayern Munich which had nearly 7 million viewers. At 9pm on BBC One ratings rose for the finale of MasterChef which had 5.6 million viewers. Emmerdale was the only prime-time soap to air last night and it pulled in 6.8 million viewers – dipping below its recent trend of pulling 7 million or more viewers in. Hollyoaks on Channel Four had 1.2 million viewers while BBC One’s daytime medical soap Doctors had 1.5 million viewers.
