ATVThe production on the 23rd James Bond film has been suspended because of uncertainty over the future of film company MGM. Although the film was in the early stages of development it was expected to be released in 2011 or 2012 and once again star Daniel Craig as the famous spy.

ATVThe production on the 23rd James Bond film has been suspended because of uncertainty over the future of film company MGM. The James Bond franchise is one of the longest running franchise in history starting in the 1960s and clocking up 22 films with six different actors in the role. It started in the 1960s with Dr. No with Sean Connery in the role and the most recent film was Daniel Craig’s second as James Bond; Quantum of Solace. Daniel Craig took over the role in Casino Royale, taking over the role from Pierce Brosnan,  in a reboot of the franchise to make it “grittier” and less about gadgets.

Production on the untitled 23rd movie in the franchise was in the early stages with a release date of 2011 or 2012 – the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No in cinemas. The uncertainty of MGM’s future had prompted the film being suspended – MGM is currently seeking a buyer and is in considerable debut. Although the franchise is a huge box office hit the 23rd film has been suspended for now but experts predict the film will happen at some point with Daniel Craig in the role.
