Broadcaster Peter Wheeler Dies

The presenter, who fronted shows such as ITV’s hard-hitting investigative series World In Action, print news review show What The Papers Say and local news for the North West with Granada Reports, has died aged 75.

 

 

As well as appearing on-screen as a presenter and reporter Peter was well known for his voice over work, including as the narrator on Granada Television’s drama Crown Court and All Our Yesterdays. He also turned to acting appearing in a number of sitcoms starring opposite the likes of Les Dawson and Ken Dodd.

 

Other shows to his credit as presenter include BBC game show Call My Bluff and the original ballroom contest for BBC One, Come Dancing. Wheeler also had a long radio career working for both BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4 nationally and locally for BBC Radio Manchester.

 

Wheeler died from a heart attack after collapsing during a business meeting in Manchester.
