Emmerdale’s Alyson Spiro Guest Stars In Doctors

Former Emmerdale actress Alyson Spiro is to guest-star in BBC daytime hit-award-winning soap Doctors next month. Spiro starred in the ITV farming saga between 1994 and 2000, as the second actress to play Sarah Sugden.

She’ll appear in the BBC soap as Gill Ferry as part of the shows ‘story of the day’ which is weaved between the ongoing plots. The character will be involved in a story which sees her dealing with the news her mother is suffering from some form of dementia, as well as man trouble for mother and daughter. News of the new guest signings were first announced in March along with Crossroads actress Annette Badland and Susannah York.

Spiro also proved a popular actress in the ATV Network series Sapphire and Steel in which she played Liz. Her Emmerdale character was written out when her adopted son Andy burned down the farm barn, unaware his ‘mother’ was inside.

The episode of Doctors, entitled Gibberish, will air on July 12 on BBC One.
