Carley Stenson quits Hollyoaks
It’s been announced that actress Carley Stenson, who plays Steph Cunningham, has decided to quit Channel Four soap Hollyoaks after a decade with the series.
Fans of Hollyoaks will be left wondering if they’ll be a cast left soon as another actress has announced her departure from the struggling soap. Last week it was confirmed that Hollie Jay-Bowes was quitting her role of Michaela McQueen after four years with Hollyoaks and since new producer Paul Marquess took the helm of the soap in January a string of cast members have been axed or decided to leave. The latest cast member to announce their decision to quit the soap is actress Carley Stenson who plays Steph Cunningham, nee Dean. Stenson has been with the soap for a decade and is quitting to persue a theatre career – as well as appearing in the main show the actress has also appeared in spin-off series Hollyoaks Later.
The actress will make her final appearance on the soap towards the end of the year and will bow out in “dramatic style”. Steph has been involved in a number of high profile storylines during her ten years in the soap such as being attacked by the Serial Killer and later thought she was being haunted by one of his victims. More recently Steph was caught up with the antics of nutter Niall Rafferty and loosing her husband Max on her wedding day.
New producer Paul Marquess is hoping to turn around the flagging fortunes of Hollyoaks which has suffered from low ratings for several months now. As well as axing a wide range of characters the actor has also secure new cast members in the form of Kim Tidy, Sheree Murphy, Libby Davison and Paul Opacic.
