Glee ends strongly for E4

Smash hit musical comedy series Glee ended strongly for E4 last night with nearly 2 million viewers. The series started at Christmas with only modest ratings but steadily built up its audience over the subsequent weeks as ‘Glee Mania” saw ratings climb to 1.9 million viewers for some episodes.

The series started at Christmas with only modest ratings but steadily built up its audience over the subsequent weeks as ‘Glee Mania” saw ratings climb to 1.9 million viewers for some episodes. Across its 22 week-run on E4 the series has averaged an impressive 1.5 million viewers but some episodes have neared 2 million viewers making it more popular with audiences than home-grown drama Skins. Last night’s episode of Glee, the first season finale, was seen by 1.8 million viewers according to overnight figures.

 

The series has also proved hugely popular stateside with a number of high profile stars guest appearing in the series such as Neil Patrick Harris and Olivia Newton-John while John Barrowman and Susan Boyle have both been tipped for future guest roles in the series. Fox, the broadcaster of Glee in America, has already commissioned a third season even though the first series has just finished in America.
