Doctor For Coronation Street

Actor Oliver Mellor has joined the cast of Coronation Street, ITV has confirmed.

 

Mellor, who has already begun filming with the Manchester-based soap, will appear as Gail Platt’s new medical centre boss Dr Matt Carter from next month. The character will be involved in the ongoing storyline involving Natasha Blakeman played by Rachel Leskovac.

 

He is currently contracted to appear in four episodes of the Weatherfield drama but may be back on the cobbles at a later date for a longer stint.

 

Earlier this year it was announced that former Holby City star Leskovac would be leaving the ITV soap following a cast shake-up by new Producer Phil Collinson. Recent reports suggest that the character of Natasha is to become embroiled in a baby storyline which also features Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine).

 

Mellor’s previous credits include Doctor Who, Hollyoaks In The City and Skins.
