Final Friday Night with Jonathan Ross draws nearly 5 million viewers

The last outing for Jonathan Ross’ chat show on the beeb pulled in impressive viewers for the time slot.

The final episode of BBC One’s chat-show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross had nearly 5 million viewers last night while the latest episode of sitcom My Family saw ratings rise to 4.4 million viewers.

Jonathan Ross’s time at the BBC came to an end last night as the presented host the final edition of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. The final edition of the chat-show saw Ross joined by footballer David Beckham and interested nearly 5 million viewers with an average of 4.7 million viewers. However, at one point the ratings did peak at 5.3 million viewers. Ross announced his departure from the corporation earlier this week and following his exit he’ll continue to present the British Comedy Awards, for Channel 4, as well as presenting a new chat-show for ITV1 from next year.

Elsewhere last night the latest episode of My Family saw its ratings rise slightly. The second episode of the tenth season saw the character of Michael coming out as gay to his parents and 4.4 million viewers tuned in – up on the 4 million who tuned in for last week’s opening episode. Friday night comedy on BBC One continued at 9pm with The Old Guys which had 3 million viewers. At 9pm on ITV1 a repeat of Doc Martin had 2.9 million viewers while the latest eviction on Big Brother had 2.5 million viewers. A new episode of comedy series The IT Crowd had 2 million viewers for Channel 4 at 10pm.
