Impressive Regional Ratings for ‘George Best’ Series on ITV

ITV Northern Ireland’s series George Best – Football Boots to Dancing Shoes kicked off last night with an “impressive 150,000 local viewers” production company UTV said.

The series tells the drama and excitement behind the scenes of how Dancing Shoes, The George Best Musical came to fruition over the past 18 months.

The four part series continues next week – Tuesday 27 July at 7.30pm – with playwrights Martin Lynch and Marie Jones along with musicians JJ Gilmour and Pat Gribben searching for the right George who is crucial to their success but their initial trawl fails.

“After call backs and more auditions they find their cast, appoint them, unveil them to the public and continue the work of putting a brand new production on stage at the Grand Opera House.” UTV say.

The third programme will take a look at the business end of creating a hit musical following the production team to meetings with potential sponsors as well following them to Old Trafford to learn more about football legend George Best.

The final programme in the series – Tuesday 10 August –  takes a look at the theatre production’s opening night.

“UTV cameras have been given exclusive access to witness the nerves, the highs and the lows and programme producer, Liam Creagh interviews the star studded audience to see what they thought of a musical born and bred in Belfast which now hopes to take on the West End and Broadway.” Say the production company.
