Amanda Donohoe Leaving Emmerdale

After almost two years in the popular Yorkshire soap opera Amanda, who plays murdering Home Farm matriarch Natasha Wylde, is to leave the dales later this year.

ITV Yorkshire, according to the Daily Star, has not revealed how the character will leave the series.

ATV soap critic Lynn Swift says “It’s a great shame that Amanda has decided to go. I was watching her performances recently and the character has really become a firm favourite of mine in Emmerdale. She’s believable, even in the strangest of circumstances you just believe in her performance. It will be a loss for the show, Natasha is a great character.”

Natasha moved into the Home Farm estate with husband Mark – played by Grease 2 film star Maxwell Caulfield – and their two sons Nathan and Will and daughter Maisie after the King family moved out in 2008. Since they first appeared in January 2009 the storylines have seen her husband reveal he’s lead a double life, including another son to a woman he never divorced.

The unknown son, Ryan – played by former Hollyoaks cutie-pie James Sutton – then started up a relationship with the Wylde daughter Maisie – actress Alice Coulthard – and to top it off she killed hubby Mark in the Beckindale woods once the whole sordid affair was exposed.

A source told the newspaper: “Amanda has had a brilliant time at Emmerdale but decided that the time was right to leave. She told them a few weeks back and they’ve been working out the best exit for Natasha.

“Her current storyline has been the biggest of the year and was always going to have to reach a gripping climax.
