American broadcaster CBS has responded to its poor GLAAD rating. The broadcaster scored badly with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination’s survey into representation of gay characters/issues on American television. The survey was published last week by the organisation with The CW and MTV both praised for its gay coverage/portrayal through shows such as Gossip Girl and 90210. Fox also scored well but was marked down for some of its negative coverage but CBS was scored the worst main broadcaster by GLAAD. Nina Tassler of CBS conceded she was “very disappointed” by the results. CBS has a poor track record where it comes to GLAAD ratings but on a press tour Tassler revealed that The Good Wife, Bleep My Dad Says and Rules of Engagement will also introduce gay characters later this year.
