More Comedy For Sky 1

Sky Television has revealed its plans for more new British comedy on its Sky1 network, including Sky1 HD. Stars the company say will appear on the channels include Dawn French, Stephen Fry, Victoria Wood and Catherine Tate.

The new output they say marks “The biggest commitment of original British comedy in Sky1’s twenty year history.” And add that it “marks a further shift of Sky1 HD into a predominantly scripted channel. Sky1 HD’s new line-up features some of the UK’s best loved names.”

The latest announcement follows Sky’s multi-million pound commitment to original UK drama production, which began in March of 2008. Since then Sky has recived critical and commercial success with BAFTA-winning drama including The Take, Going Postal and Strike Back.

Across 2010 and 2011 Sky1 HD has further dramas lined-up including Thorne and Mad Dogs.
