Christians unhappy with EastEnders plot

The BBC has received complaints from some Christians who are unhappy that preacher Lucas Johnson in the soap EastEnders has turned into a Bible-quoting murderer.

The long-running plot has sparked complaints from Christians who feel the storyline is unsuitable. The killer preacher, played by Don Gilet, has already murdered his ex-wife Trina (Sharon Duncan Brewster) and Owen Turner (Lee Ross), the ex-husband of Lucas’ current wife Denise (Diane Parish).

The body of Owen Turner was recently dug up in the Square and the police believed that Denise was the murderer but in a twist, Lucas confessed his crime to her. Audiences are now wondering whether or not Denise has fallen victim to the preacher’s murderous ways.

Despite the fact the storyline is clearly entirely fictional it seems some audiences have had trouble telling fact from fiction and have complained to the corporation about the storyline. They feel the EastEnders storyline badly reflects upon Christians because as we very well know no Christian has ever murdered someone else…….or not.

The BBC soap has sparked protest quite a lot recently with a gay kiss between Syed (Marc Elliot) and Christian (John Partridge) upsetting some viewers while a vicious homophobic attack on Christian by a Muslim gang upset other viewers.
