‘Compelling’ end for The Bill
Details of the finale of The Bill, the long-running ITV police drama, have been revealed with producer Jonathan Young promising a “compelling” end for the drama.
Jonathan Young, the executive producer of The Bill, has promised a “compelling” end for the veteran drama. Details of the final episode of The Bill have been released ahead of its broadcast later this month. ITV announced earlier this year the cancellation of the drama after 27 years on-air. The axing of The Bill followed tumbling ratings after an unsuccessful revamp of the series last year by ITV1 which transformed the London based series into a post-watershed gritty series along the lines of CSI.
The finale of The Bill will involve a storyline about a teenage girl involved in a suspected gang-land killing. Tabloid speculation has been rife about the finale which claims it’ll feature a siege/shoot out in Sun Hill Police Station. Young described the finale as “compelling” and said he hoped the episode would “respect the heritage of the show”.
The decision to axe The Bill has not been without controversy with drama producers criticising ITV and fans slamming the broadcaster.
