Axed EastEnders actress Melissa Suffield, who plays Lucy Beale, has claimed her sacking from the popular BBC One soap is ‘unfair’. It emerged earlier in the Summer that Melissa Suffield would be departing EastEnders later this year and her character of Lucy would be re-cast. Tabloid reports at the time put the axing down to the actresses ‘unruly’ behaviour. However, the actress has now hit back and her sacking and claims she wasn’t doing anything that other 17 year olds don’t do.

“It’s not like I was going out, punching photographers and being sick in a gutter. I’m only doing what every other girl of 17 does. It’s not an excuse, but out of all the things Lucy has done, the only one I’ve done is drink underage.” – Melissa Suffield in Reveal.

Melissa Suffield has been in EastEnders for six years having joined the soap in 2004 taking over the role from previous actress Casey Anne Rothery. You can read the full interview with Melissa Suffield in Reveal.
