ITV News to open Dubai bureau
ITN have announced today that the ITV News Dubai bureau is to open, with new correspondent appointments also confirmed.
Correspondent Jon Irvine will take up the role of International Correspondent and will be based at the new Dubai bureau. He will report on stories from the gulf countries, Africa and across the Indian subcontinent. Robert Moore will return to his previous role of Washington Correspondent, Martin Geissler will take over Robert as Europe Correspondent and Jon Ray, who opened ITV’s China bureau in 2006 will become the Middle East Correspondent.
UK Editor Angus Walker will replace Jon Ray in China. ITN have announced that the changes will come into effect later this month. Speaking about the upcoming changes, deputy editor of ITV News, Jonathan Munro says;
“This new line-up will refresh our on-screen reporting and play to the strengths of our correspondents. The strategic decision to open the Dubai bureau will improve our longer term newsgathering and ability to get teams on the ground for breaking stories in a wide area from Pakistan to Southern Africa.”
