Incident at Discovery TV Headquarters Resolved

The hostage situation at the Discovery headquarters is over as the suspect is shot dead by police.

Police were called to the headquarters shortly after 1pm local time after a man entered the building with a gun. Various media outlets are also reporting that the suspect has a pipe bomb attached to him.

 

Staff were told to lock themselves in their offices, before being told if safe to do so to try and get themselves out of the building. The current incident is not thought to have affected any of its TV services. Police tried to negotiate with the man but he was shot dead by police and the hostages have been released. No other persons are believed harmed.

 

A spokesperson for local police have recently added to the statement that the man is believed to be in the foyer of the building and is a former employee of the company.
