According to tabloid reports Channel Four has axed chat-show The 5 O’Clock Show. The tea time chat-show was a replacement for Paul O’Grady show’s after the popular host decided to return to ITV. The chat-show instead of having a full-time host had a series of guest presenters who each fronted the show for a week – a twist on the guest presenter format adopted by Have I Got News For You since for the departure of Angus Deayton. Amongst those to guest present The 5 O’Clock Show were Fern Britton, Peter Andre and Vernon Kay.

However, according to The Sun the chat-show has not been re-commissioned for Channel Four who felt the series didn’t work. Instead The Five O’Clock Show will be replaced with a new show by TV Chef Jamie Oliver. Paul O’Grady’s new show for ITV launches on Friday at 9pm but faces tough competition as a new series of New Tricks launches on BBC One at the same time while Ultimate Big Brother concludes on Channel Four.
