The Celebrities are the usual mix of soap stars, sports personalities and television presenters. So we’ve put together a guide for you to remind you/refresh your memories on just who this year’s contestants are.

Ann Widdecombe

A former Conservative MP, for Maidstone, who stepped down from politics at this year’s elections. Ann is an outspoken MP who has strong viewers on a wide range of issues and has appeared on Question Time and similar shows. While not everyone agrees with her political views Ann has won the respect of a great deal of the public for standing up for what she believes in and for standing by her principals. Ann isn’t afraid to criticise the Tory party when she think its going down the wrong road and once said there was “something of the night” about fellow Tory MP Michael Howard. In more recent years Ann has become something of a television personality appearing on Have I Got News For You, Celebrity Fit Club, a Louis Theroux, presented several documentaries and had a cameo appearance in Doctor Who.

Felicity Kendal

Actress Felicity Kendal is probably still best remembered for the 1970s comedy The Good Life in which she played Barbara. The comedy also starred Richard Biers, Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington and revolved around a Suburban couple who decide to give up their plush jobs and become self-sufficient. The Good Life ran for 4 seasons and was hugely popular with audiences and is still regularly repeated now on digital television. The actress has played a variety of roles since then including starring withy Pam Ferris in the ITV’s sleuth drama Rosemary & Thyme. Kendal also guest-starred in a 2008 episode of Doctor Who.

Scott Maslen

The compulsory current EastEnders cast-member contestant this year is the sexy Scott Maslen who plays Jack Branning in the BBC One soap. Maslen famously defected from The Bill to join EastEnders – he had been in the police drama as DS Phil Hunter for 5 years but was lured away by EastEnders. Before turning to acting Maslen was a successful model and also appeared in the 2000 gangster television series Lock, Stock as Jamie.

Paul Daniels

The famous magician who had a number of shows on television over the years including a long-running one on the BBC. Daniels is also famously married to the lovely Debbie McGee who was his long-time assistant. While his magic show ended in the mid 1990’s Paul Daniels hasn’t completely disappeared from the public life. As with Ann Robinson he, and wife Debbie, was the focus of a documentary by Louis Theroux, appeared in Channel Five reality series The Farm, The X Factor: Battle of the Stars and also Celebrity Wife Swap. Paul swapped the lovely Debbie McGee for Vanessa Feltz for several days in a memorable edition of the Channel Four show.

The soap quota for this year is also features former Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien. The actress played Sarah Louise Platt on the ITV soap for eight years in which her character was certainly put through the mill from a teenage pregnancy, crazy relatives, a murderous step-father, a gay boyfriend and a miscarriage but a few of the storylines to feature the character. Since leaving Corrie in 2008 the actress has appeared in Blue Murder, The Dairies of Miss Anne Lister and most recently Waterloo Road.

Kara Tointon

Another soap actress taking part this year is Kara Tointon who played Dawn Swan in EastEnders between 2005 and 2009. The actress bowed out of the soap last year with one of her last storylines being a totally unbelievable romance with Phil Mitchell. The actress recently appeared in an episode of The Bill and has also turned to modelling. Previously to joining EastEnders Tointon had roles in Mile High, Teachers, Dream Team and Dinotopia.

Matt Baker

Television presenter and occasional actor Matt Baker is also amongst this years contestants. Patsy Kensit

Actress Patsy Kensit is probably best known to modern audiences for her role of bitchy Sadie King in Emmerdale. The actress left Emmerdale 2006 and in 2007 joined the cast of BBC One’s Holby City as Faye – a woman with a lot of skeletons in her closet. Faye has been at the centre of several storylines over the past few years including at least two love triangles! However, Kensit’s career stretches back beyond Emmerdale to roles in dramas and films such as Full Eclipse, Lethal Weapon 2, Great Expectations, The Turn of the Screw and Murder In Mind.

As well as singing with Destiny’s Child and her solo career Williams has also appeared in theatre productions including playing Roxie Hart in Chicago in both the West End and Broadway.
