Junior MasterChef top dog in Australia

Junior MasterChef came out on top in the ratings Sunday, beating the X Factor and securing the highest rating for a MasterChef launch show in Australia.

A massive 2.2million viewers tuned into Network TEN in Australia to see the launch of Junior MasterChef, with the show peaking at 2.61million. At the same time on Channel 7, The X Factor could only muster 1.07million, although it was under 1million when in direct competition.

“Just when you thought you knew what to expect from the MasterChef franchise, we’ve turned the format on its head. Junior MasterChef Australia will continue to amaze and inspire Australian foodies of all ages and abilities. Impressive culinary talents aside, these kids are just simply a delight to watch,” TEN Programming Chief David Mott said in a statement today.

The ratings will be good news for the shows sponsors. It was announced at the start of September the show would have six sponsors, including Birds Eye and Unilever.
