The final ever episode of Heartbeat was seen by over 5 million viewers on ITV1 last night. The 1960s Yorkshire based drama was axed by ITV last year although at the time the broadcaster stated production had merely been suspended while a backlog of episodes were aired. In June of this year though ITV formally acknowledged it had indeed axed the series. According to overnight ratings the final episode of Heartbeat was seen by 5.5 million viewers at 8pm on ITV1. At 9pm drama Albert’s Memorial, which starred David Jason and David Warner, had 4.6 million viewers. Actor David Jason also presented a documentary on ITV1 at 7pm to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Britain. The documentary was seen by 4.1 million viewers.
At 6pm on BBC One The Antiques Roadshow had 4 million viewers followed by the rural affairs magazine programme Countryfile which had 5 million viewers. BBC One’s A Concert For Heroes had 5.6 million viewers on BBC One between 8pm and 10pm.
