Gossip Girl and 90210 premiers down
The season premiers of Gossip Girl and 90210 on The CW on Monday evening were down on previous years but overall the figures aren’t that different from what the teen-dramas were averaging towards the end of their last seasons.
The season premiers of Gossip Girl and 90210 on The CW on Monday evening were down on previous years. Gossip Girl returned on Monday for its fourth season and boasted lavish overseas filming as the characters of Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) headed off to Paris, the French capital, to spend their summer vacation. According to ratings data the episode overall averaged 1.8 million viewers which is down on its season three premier for last year. However, as broadcasters The CW have pointed out the figure is more or less the same as Gossip Girl was averaging towards the end of its third season.
The third season of 90210 also kicked off on Monday evening – The CW has paired Gossip Girl and 90210 up as they attract similar audiences. The season three opener of 90210 pulled in 2 million viewers which is also down on last years figure but higher than its season finale in May. When final figures are released for both shows – which include DVR figures – ratings are likely to rise slightly due to the changing viewing habits of younger audiences.
