The season premiers of One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected were down on last year according to overnight ratings. The CW dramas returned for new seasons last night but struggled to pull in the same figure the two dramas did last year. Veteran drama One Tree Hill returned for an 8th season – despite reports the drama would be cancelled in favour of a Life Unexpected renewal, in the end The CW renewed both.

 

The lower season premier figures for One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected for the return of Gossip Girl and 90210 on Monday evening which also posted lower figures than their respective launches last year. However, both dramas in that case averaged what they were attracting ratings wise towards the end of their last seasons.
