‘Studio Five’ sees ratings increase
The recently revamped Live From Studio Five has seen ratings rise slightly since changing format and presenters.
When new Channel 5 boss Richard Desmond took over the channel, changes took place with immediate effect. Daily topical show Live From Studio Five seen Ian Wright disappearing, along with the studio desk and in came a sofa with a compact 35minute showbiz shower of news and gossip.
Ratings for the show had dipped to as low as 200,000 viewers daily, but with the new 35minute slot and being solely focused on showbiz news, the ratings have hit 400,000
. This may be terrible for a main network like Channel 5, but bosses are hoping to find new ways of keeping the show fresh and hoping that the ratings continue to grow.
Live From Studio Five began in September 2009 with Melinda Messenger, Ian Wright and Kate Walsh. Over the year the show has seen many changes. Melinda left, Emma Willis replaced her, only to quit a short time after to present Big Brother’s Little Brother. Jayne Middlemiss presented with Kate and Ian, until Ian quit (or sacked depending on reports) earlier this year. The show is now presented by Jayne and Kate.
