Switchover Help Scheme progress report

The Switchover Help Scheme, which is run by the BBC under an agreement with the government, have revealed the progress they are making.

 

The scheme helps old and disabled people in the run up to the switch over to digital, which will be completed in 2012. The progress report, which has been published today, reveals that the scheme has helped install equipment for more than 350,000, and over 150,000 taking detailed advice.

 

The scheme has worked in conjunction with other organisations to reach out to those most in need, including Digital UK. Parts of the UK have already begun switching off analogue services, with north of Scotland and Granada regions now being digital only.

 

Switchover Help Scheme Chief Executive Peter White: “Ultimately, our mission is to make sure that no eligible person is left with a blank screen after switchover. We have worked hard to make sure that those people who need support know what help is available and receive the highest standards of service.”
