Monday Ratings: Spooks return captures 5.6m

The return of Spooks to BBC One entertained 5.6 million viewers last night, while the final episode of ITV 1’s Bouquet of Barbed Wire held 4.8 million at the same time.

Elsewhere the soaps dominated the evening schedules with EastEnders gaining 9.2million viewers. Coronation Street, which saw Nick propose to Natasha proved a hit with 8.8 million viewers for both episodes at 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Earlier at 7.00pm, Emmerdale had 7.0 million.

The breakfast battle seems to have stabilised for now, with BBC One’s Breakfast achieving 1.4million while ITV 1’s Daybreak had 800,000. The second episode of the third series of The Inbetweeners beat ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 at 10.00pm. The E4 smash hit had 2.1 million viewers.
