American Gavin and Stacey scrapped

A planned remake of the BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey in America has been scrapped.

A planned remake of the BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey in America has been scrapped. ABC were planning to remake the popular BBC comedy about a long distance romance with the new version partly being set in New Jersey. However, ABC has now changed their minds on the remake and have cancelled it after a change in bosses at the network. BBC Worldwide are still pressing ahead with the remake hoping another broadcaster will snap it up.

While the American remake of The Office has proved to be a hit for American audiences and is still going strong other remakes haven’t been successful. There has been several attempts at producing an American version of the Jennifer Saunders sitcom Absolutely Fabulous none of which – as yet – have made it very far. Away from sitcoms and remakes of Life on Mars, As If and Footballers Wives all failed to take off.
