Cathy Murphy to join EastEnders
Cathy Murphy is to join BBC One soap EastEnders as a character from Billy Mitchell’s (Perry Fenwick) past.
The actress is known for her roles in Family Affairs, Glory Glory Days and the 1990s drama The House of Elliot which was created by Jean Marsh and Eileen Atkins.
“Like our characters, I’ve known Perry since I was 16 and he is a brilliant actor. We’ve never worked together before so I am looking forward to getting stuck into our fantastic rollercoaster of a story” – Cathy Murphy
Julie and Billy haven’t seen each other since they were teenagers and her return to Billy’s life is sure to cause some drama. Long-time EastEnders fans may remember the actress had a recurring role in the soap in 2005 when she played Tricia. Murphy’s other roles include appearances in The Bill, Casualty, Doctor Who, Shameless and a cameo appearance in French & Saunders sketch in which the two comedians were spoofing the House of Eliott.
