50 Years Of Coronation Street

ITV has released a video of the best bits from Coronation Street, as the show gears up for its 50th anniversary in December.

The official website for Coronation Street has uploaded a video, which contains highlights of the show’s past 50 years.

Coronation Street, or Corrie to fans, began life on 9th December 1960, cementing its place it British television history thanks to its fully formed characters and perfect blend of real life dramas and comedy.

The anniversary in December will centre around a tram crashing onto the street, killing of some well known characters in the process.

Corrie was launched onto the ITV network by Granada Television from their Quay Street studios in Manchester where the programme continues to be made five decades later.

Tony Warren, creator of the fictional world of Weatherfield.

Early days, Dennis Tanner, Rita Littlewood and Emily Nugent.

Stan and Hilda Ogden, stalwarts of The Street.

A sixties sing-a-long in The Rovers Return, overseen by Annie Walker.

Alec and Bet Gilroy oversee the pints in The Rovers in the 1980s.
