One Life to Live Producers sign new deal

Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati, two top producers on ABC’s daytime soap One Life to Live, have signed new deals giving the strongest indication yet the axe isn’t about to fall on the series.

Following the cancellation of CBS soaps Guiding Light and As The World Turns fans turned their attention to One Life to Live – the struggling ABC daytime soap. The series has been plagued by cancellation rumours for several years and it was feared that with CBS cutting down two of its soaps that ABC would follow suit and end One Life to Live. However, although those rumours still persist it seems though the soap has some life in it yet.

Reports from America indicate that two of the soap’s two producers, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati, have signed new deals to remain with the series. Executive Producer Frank Valentini has reportedly signed a new two-year deal to remain at the ABC soap; he became executive producer in 2002. Head writer Ron Carlivati meanwhile has signed a new three year deal to remain crafting stories for the Llanview based soap.

There are even reports that ABC are once again preparing to move to HD filming for One Life to Live. Such a move would be a costly one; involving not just upgrading the equipment but also the soap’s sets. ABC would unlikely make such an investment in the series if it were planning on cancelling it anytime soon.
